Borrowed - The New Fashion Solution

Trends Come and Go but Borrowed Is Here To Stay
In a world where fashion consumption is at an all-time high and longevity of garments seem to die down with each turning season, trends seem to dictate the way we buy and wear.

Similar to an instant polaroid, trends come and go quickly and are unsustainable - both in ethic and efficacy.

Borrowed aims to slow down consumption by acting as an attractive tool to redefine ownership and helps users stay en vogue without giving into harmful purchasing habits.

Nostalgia and Irony as UX Design Elements
In order to cater to a younger audience driven by pop-culture and trends, I decided to incorporate polaroids as a design component to not only evoke an emotion of nostalgia but a fun element of irony.

Polaroids regained popularity in the early 2010s and are part of today's Gen-Z. By understanding the power of design and emotional user experience, I aim to stand out of current competitors whilst also targeting a consumer group driven by aesthetic.

Why Borrowed?
Borrowed is my result from my university's second year 'Fashion Futures' unit.

In this unit it was required to create a 10-minute video presentation on a new consumer-facing innovation concept, proficient enough to be further developed and implemented by businesses operating within the wider fashion industry.

Divided into two parts, the first consisted of a video presentation in form of a narrated short film, presenting the inspiration behind of the concept whilst communicating and marketing the innovation.
The other half was supposed to be a visualised rationale and meant to pitch the innovation to potential investors, further illustrating the new idea as proficient enough to enter the fashion industry. The later is presented here, although in a much reduced version. I included a prototype of my proposed app which also is my result of trying out Adobe XD for the first time.

In this unit I tried challenging myself by using professional programs e.g. Adobe Premier and Adobe XD as well as really diving deeper into a subject I was passionate about.

This was my first try with Adobe XD and became more of a passion project than solely a simple uni assignment. Although laggy and in need of a lot of tweaks, I truly enjoyed every bit of getting to know and developing Borrowed's interface and plan on further building my skills in all Adobe applications to a greater level to become a rounded creator!

Hope you enjoyed it!
